How Can I Get Rid of Stuttering?

The cure for stuttering is still unknown. According to the Webster's Dictionary, the definition of stuttering is "to speak with involuntary disruption or blocking of speech (as by spasmodic repetition or prolongation of vocal sounds)." The involuntary disruption of speech is what has baffled speech pathologists and research scientists for years. Both parties believe they are getting closer to finding the cure for stuttering techniques.

There is some belief that the trait for stuttering may lie in cells in the left hemisphere of the brain. Researchers think one is trying to communicate with another area and something blocks the transmission. The left hemisphere of the brain is responsible for language development. The damage caused by the transmission appears to be minimal, and children can overcome stuttering with conventional therapy.

Stuttering cure techniques have been established to help patients deal with stuttering. The techniques range from breathing skills to social interaction skills. These techniques are not proven effective for every patient but have been proven to lower the amount of time the patient spends stuttering.

Stress, caffeine, anxiety, emotional connections, nervousness, and sensory overload are a few of the most popular triggers of stuttering attacks. These symptoms respond back to the notion that there are chemical imbalances in the brain. The symptoms for stuttering are similar to the symptoms of depression, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), and OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). The medicine used to treat stuttering is sometimes used for patients with migraines, depression, and/or anxiety history.

The cure for stuttering techniques is advancing each and every day. In 2004, two scientists invented a device to allow stutterers to speak normally. The device is worn like a hearing aid, and it transforms what a stuttering person says into a normal conversation. The person hears the correct way of saying something and learns to speak it in the proper way.

The device is not perfect, as neither are medications or therapy, but researchers continue to advance their understanding of the human brain and stuttering. Stuttering cures are being tested on an individual basis before being released to thousands of people.

Even though the anti-stuttering device was the latest breakthrough in technology for stuttering, there are scientists working to create a better device. Little is known about the device besides that it is being created.

Trial and error is the only thing researcher can do until a cure for stuttering techniques is discovered. It is going to take a long time to figure out a cure for stuttering that works for the millions of people who suffer from stuttering. However, it is believed that researchers, doctors, and scientists are closer to the answer than they have ever been before.
