Does Yogurt Work for Yeast Infections?

Does yogurt work for yeast infections? Before I answer that question, I would like to talk briefly about what yeast infections are, so you can see the role yogurt plays in all of this.

Yeast is a fungus that is normally found in the body. It is normally found in small amounts in the vagina, the mouth, the digestive tract, and on the skin without causing symptoms. Symptoms appear when the balance between the normal microorganisms of the vagina is lost, and the Candida albicans population becomes larger in relation to the other microorganism populations. This happens when the environment has certain favorable conditions that allow growth of Candida albicans.

Using yogurt for yeast infections isn't new to many people because it has been the top choice for treating yeast infections for years. The beauty of using yogurt is that it will not only cure the infection, but it will also prevent it from occurring. The reason why yogurt is so popular is because it contains good bacteria which can battle the bad bacteria known as candida found in the yeast infection.

To use yogurt for yeast infections you can simply apply it directly to the vulva or gently inject some into the vagina. One method to inject yogurt into the vagina is to put the yogurt in plastic tampon applicators and freeze them . Now each time you get a yeast infection you can grab one out your freezer and insert the tampon. You can insert the yogurt a number of ways but you must make sure you use plain yogurt with no sugar added because sugar will feed the yeast and make the condition worse.

It is not uncommon for some people to experience yeast infections 3 to 4 times each year. To keep yeast infections from returning you should eat some natural plain yogurt each day. For the best results you can apply the yogurt externally and take it internally at the same time.

So, these bits of advice should enable you to answer that question "does yogurt work for yeast infections?" It is really not a big deal to figure these things out.
