Sex for the individual is either male or female. Sex as an act is much more complicated. The activity of sex has many factors which affect it. We will explore a few and show how exercise can help. The basics of sex is survival of the species. This is a strong primal urge. Men and women have estrogen and testosterone receptors in all cells of their bodies. Sex is one of the most common and definitely, most pleasurable activities we experience as humans. It is strongest when we are younger. As we grow older the urge decreases. This is natural to a point. With aging, our organs tend to shrink. they then release less hormones than when we were younger. Our bodies are affected. There is loss in immunity, neurological ability, metabolism, circulation, respiratory function, and reproductive function. These are naturally occurring processes. Though, we can slow them down with nutrition, exercise, and using our minds. In today's society there are added factors. They are often due to our focus on monetary success, or striving to get there. The workaholic attitude affects our bodies and sex life. In our fast food paced world, we do not receive optimal nutrition. We develop a decrease in circulation. This is due to diet , lack of exercise, and stress. What can we do? We will look at sex and exercise. Exercise can improve sexual performance. And, sex can improve your health. In the 1970's a Duke University study showed that women and men had a longer life expectancy, who had frequent sex. A Swedish study shows an earlier death rate with abstinence. A 1976 study showed women who were dissatisfied with sex, were a higher risk factor for heart attack. Men who have frequent sex are less likely to die at an early age, according to a recent article in the British Medical Journal. another British study was conducted over a 10 year period. In it, males were divided into 3 groups. Group 1 had sex at least twice a week. Group 2 had sex a few times a month. Group 3 had sex less than monthly. The results were in and group 1 had the best longevity rate. Group 2 had a death rate 1.6 times higher than group 1. And group 3 had a death rate twice as high as group 1. This reduces the death rate by 36% for an increased 100 orgasms per year. Are you starting to see a pattern? Actually, doctors in a survey, recommend sex twice a week for a healthy lifestyle. Where is the sex and exercise tie in? It goes in a circular motion, or back and forth. One way to put it is, less fat means more sex. We tend to become less fit in out late 20's and beyond, due to internal and external influences. This can lead to a lack luster sex life. It is not an automatic reaction as it was in earlier years. So, less fat means more sex. As we exercise we see positive changes. These changes make us feel more desirable. This becomes apparent to our partner, also. It is physical, psychological, and hormonal. Shed some pounds. Your endurance will increase. Your self-esteem will increase. Sex will be better and more frequent. Train hard, eat healthy, and get adequate sleep for recovery. This will have positive changes in your physique and sexual function. Exercising regularly gives you more energy. More energy gives more interest in sexual activities. The Center for Marital and Sexual Studies in Long Beach, California states, " People who exercise regularly reach orgasm more easily and more often than people who do not." Endurance and strength are important factors in achieving great sex. Exercise and get a better body. A better body has better endurance. This leads to better self-esteem and feeling sexy.
